What You'll Experience

The Great Buddha of Kamakura

Step into the serene grounds of Kotoku-in Temple to see the magnificent Great Buddha of Kamakura. This bronze statue of Amitabha Tathagata, a designated national treasure built in 1252, is the iconic symbol of Kamakura. At over 40 feet tall, its unique design, influenced by the Song Dynasty, has remained largely unchanged over centuries, making it a truly precious historical landmark.

Tsuruoka Hachiman Shrine

Discover the spiritual heart of Kamakura at Tsuruoka Hachiman Shrine. As the central belief system and patron shrine of the samurai class during the Kamakura period, it holds a deep historical significance. The expansive grounds are not only a national historic site but also a popular spot for viewing cherry blossoms and vibrant autumn foliage. It is one of Japan's three major Hachiman shrines, cementing its importance in the country's religious history.

Komachi Street

Take a stroll down Komachi Street, a lively and bustling thoroughfare that connects Kamakura Station to Tsuruoka Hachiman Shrine. This famous old street is a shopper's paradise, lined with an array of shops selling local delicacies, unique Japanese handicrafts, and a wide variety of souvenirs. It's the perfect place to find a unique memento of your trip.

Enoshima

Journey to Enoshima, a picturesque island that has been a popular getaway since the Edo period. You'll visit the Enoshima Shrine, founded in 552 CE, where you can admire precious national cultural properties like the wooden statue of Benzaiten. Benzaiten, the goddess of music and wealth, makes this a popular site for performers and visitors seeking good fortune.

Slam Dunk's Kamakura High School

Relive the magic of youth at Kamakura High School, the real-life inspiration for Ryonan High School in the beloved anime "Slam Dunk." See the famous intersection from the classic opening scene where Hanamichi Sakuragi and Haruko Akagi meet. Standing at this spot, you can almost hear the iconic theme song and feel the vibrant, youthful energy of the show.

Shonan Coastal Walk

Just a short walk from Kamakura High School, you'll find the stunning Shonan Coast. This is a popular spot for surfers and beach lovers. Take a leisurely walk along the sand, listen to the calming sound of the waves, and if the weather is clear, you might even catch a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji.

Enoden Train Experience

Cap off your tour with a ride on the iconic Enoden tram. This charming train connects Fujisawa and Kamakura, offering a scenic journey along the coast.
